IIT JEE Advanced 2023 Information

What is JEE Advanced ?

The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2023 [JEE (Advanced) 2023] will be conducted by the seven Zonal Coordinating IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board 2023 (JAB 2023). The performance of a candidate in JEE (Advanced) 2023 will form the basis for admission to the Bachelors, Integrated Masters, and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level), mentioned in clause 2, in all the IITs in the academic year 2023-24. The decisions of JAB 2023 will be final in all matters related to JEE (Advanced) 2023 and admission to IITs in the academic year 2023-24.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria & Registration

Candidates must check the following JEE Advanced 2023 Eligibility Criteria before registering for exam:

Nationality:All Indian National (including OCI/ PIO) as well as foreign national category candidates will be eligible for the examination.

Age limit:Candidates must have born or after 1st October 1998. Five years age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, i.e. these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1993.

Number of attempts: A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) maximum of two times in two consecutive years. A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2022 or 2023 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Candidates who had appeared in Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2021 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2023, irrespective of the combination of subjects attempted/offered. However, if the examination Board of Class XII (or equivalent) declared the results for the academic year 2020-21 on or after October 25, 2021, then the candidates of that Board who appeared for their Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2021 are also eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2023, provided they meet all the other eligibility criteria. In case the examination Board of Class XII (or equivalent) declared the results for the academic year 2020-21 before October 25, 2021 but the result of a particular candidate was withheld, then the candidate will not be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2023.

Qualification:Candidates must have qualified 12th examination in either 2022 or 2023 with Physics, Mathematics & Chemistry from any recognized board or Univeristy to be eligible.

Mandatory:It will be mandatory to appear in JEE Main 2023 examination to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2023.

Percentage:The 75% criteria in the qualifying exam has been relaxed.

Performance:Candidates must come under the top 2,50,000 qualifying candidates in paper 1 of JEE Main 2023 (including all categories).

Earlier admission at IITs: A candidate should NOT have been admitted to an IIT irrespective of whether or not the candidate continued in the program OR accepted an IIT seat by reporting “online” / at a “reporting centre” in the past. Candidates whose admission to IITs was cancelled (for whatever reason) after joining any IIT are also NOT eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2023.pear in JEE (Advanced) 2023.

Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2022 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2023. The candidates who were allocated a seat in an IIT through JoSAA 2022 but (i) did not report “online” / at any “reporting centre” OR, (ii) withdrew before the last round of seat allotment, OR, (iii) had their seat cancelled (for whatever reason) before the last round of seat allotment for IITs, are eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2023. However, in all of the above cases, the candidate is also required to fulfil the conditions mentioned from Criterion 1 to Criterion 4

JEE Advanced Registration Process

The interested candidates are advised to check eligibility criteria be he/she start with application process. The candidates can complete their registration online from the official website of JEE Advanced. The registration process will starts most probably from April 30, 2023. First of all the candidates need to create their account so that for further procedure they can activate their account by providing login details.

The registration fees for different category candidates are as follows-

  • For examination centre in India
    • For female candidates the fee will be Rs. 1450/-
    • For SC/St/PWD candidates the fee will be Rs. 1450/-
    • For All other candidates the fee will be Rs. 2900/-
  • For exam centres outside India
    • All candidates (SAARC Countries) fee will be USD 90
    • All candidates (Non-SAARC Countries) fee will be USD 180

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern
  • Date of Exam: The examination will be organized on June 04, 2023 (Sunday).
  • Mode of Exam: The exam will be held through online mode (computer based test).
  • No. of Papers: The exam will be comprised of two papers (Paper 1 & 2).
  • Attempts: Candidates have to attempt both the papers.
  • Language: The question paper will be asked in English & Hindi Language.
  • Exam Duration: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours.
  • Type of Questions: The question paper will contain objective type questions (multiple choice and numerical answer type).
  • Subjects: The question paper of both the paper will consist of the three separate sections which include Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
