IIT JEE Main 2024 Information

About National Testing Agency (NTA)

The Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GOI) has established the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent, autonomous, and self-sustained premier testing organization under the Societies Registration Act (1860) for conducting efficient, transparent and international standards tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admissions to premier higher education institutions.

The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) to the NTA from 2019 onwards.

About JEE (Main) 2024

JEE Main 2024 Exam Dates have been announced for both sessions. It will be conducted between 24th January to 1st February 2024 for session 1. For session 2, it will be held between 1st to 15th April 2024. Ministry of Education, Govt of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting Joint Entrance Examination (Main) to National Testing Agency (NTA) since 2019 onwards. JEE Main is a highly renowned engineering entrance exam which is every year conducted on nationallevel. Through this exam, admission is offered to candidates in UG Engineering programs like B.Tech/ B.E/ B.Arch/ B.Plan at NITs, IIITs, CFTIs & various universities/ institutions recognized by participating state government.

The exam is divided into two parts – Paper 1 for B.Tech/ B.E and Paper 2 for B.Arch/ B.Plan. For the candidates desirous of admission into IITs, JEE Main also offers as an eligibility test for appearing in JEE Advanced.

JEE Main Eligibility Criteria & Registration

Candidates must ensure their eligibility before applying for the JEE Main exam. Candidates can check the eligibility criteria from below:

Age Limit:

  • For appearing in the JEE (Main) 2024, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12 / equivalent examination in 2022, 2023, or appearing in 2024 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) 2024 examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfil the age criteria of the Institute(s) in which they are desirous of taking admission.

Attempt Limit:

  • Only those candidates who have passed Class 12 / equivalent examination in 2022, 2023 or 2024; or those who are appearing in Class 12 / equivalent examination in 2024, are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2024.
  • Candidates who passed Class 12/equivalent examination in 2021 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2025 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2024.
  • Qualification Criteria:

    • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
    • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
    • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy
    • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
    • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
    • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
    • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
    • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
    • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

    JEE Main 2024 Registration Process

    As per the new changes introduced, The JEE Main 2024 exam will be now conducted two times – in the months of April & May. The exam will be held separately for Paper 1 (B.Tech/ B.E) and Paper 2 (B.Arch/ B.Plan).

    • Aadhaar card requirement will be mandatory to fill the application.
    • Candidates are required to apply online for JEE Mains 2024 exam.
    • The registration process will be conducted in – March and April 2024..
    • Candidates are advised to fill only single application form as multiple application form will lead to rejection.
    • Incomplete application form will not be accepted so candidates are advised to fill all asked & required details.
    • Candidates are advised to fill only one application form as multiple application form will lead to rejection.
    • Candidates has option to apply for any one session or all four sessions.
    • While filling application form, candidates have to fill language of question paper, it will not be changed at later stage.
    • Authority will also provide option to rectify mistakes (if any) in the application form for limited time period. Correction process will be provided.
    • At last candidates are advised to take printout of filled in application form for future reference.

    Candidates must keep following items ready while applying for JEE Main:

    • All qualification details
    • Scanned multiple passport size photographs & signature in JPG/ JPEG format
    • 12th marksheet with size between 50Kb to 500 KB
    • Valid/ working mail ID & phone number
    • Credit card, debit card or net banking for payment

    JEE Main Registration Fee:

    • Candidates will be able to submit JEE Main 2024 application fee via online
    • Online mode of payment includes credit card, debit card or net banking, PAYTM or UPI mode.
    • The application fee will be non-refundable in any case.

    JEE Main Application Correction 2024:

    Students will be able to make correction in the application form after the completion of registration process. The authority will provide correction window for modification only in few details. No student will be allowed to make correction in the application after the last date:

    • The correction facility will be provided from after the completion of registration process.
    • Corrections will be done only through online mode.

    Brief Advisory regarding COVID-19 Pandemic:

    Candidates are advised to carry only the following with them into the examination venue:

    • Admit card along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA Website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in.
    • A simple transparent Ball Point Pen.
    • Additional photograph, to be pasted on attendance sheet
    • Personal hand sanitizer (50 ml).
    • Personal transparent water bottle.
    • Sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) in case the candidate is diabetic.

    JEE Main 2023 Exam

    Note: (i) A candidate has option to apply for one Session or more than one Session (January 2024 /April 2024) together and pay exam fee accordingly. In other words, if a candidate wishes to apply only for one Session, he / she has to pay Examination Fee only for that Session during the current application period and will have opportunity to apply again for the remaining May Sessions.

    How to Apply for JEE Main 2024

    Candidates can check here some important steps for JEE Main 2024 Registration:

    • Visit the official website of JEE Main 2024 (jeemain.nic.in).
    • Download Information Bulletin and Replica of Application Form. Read these carefully to ensure your eligibility.
    • Apply for Online Registration using own Email Id and Mobile No.
    • Fill in the Online Application Form and note down the system generated Application Number.
    • Upload scanned images of: (i) the recent photograph (file size 10Kb – 200Kb) should be either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background; (ii) candidate’s signature (file size: 4kb - 30kb); (iii) duly verified result awaited attestation form (file size: 50kb to 500kb), (iv) category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS etc.) (file size: 50kb to 300KB), (v) PwD certificate (file size: 50kb to 300kb) in jpg/jpeg format.
    • Pay fee using SBI/Canara Bank/HDFC Bank/ICICI Bank/Paytm Payment Gateway through Debit Card/Credit Card / Net Banking/UPI and keep proof of fee paid.
    • Download, save and print a copy of Confirmation Page of the Application Form (which would be downloadable only after successful remittance of fee) for future reference.
    • All the 4 Steps can be done together or at separate timings. The submission of Application of a candidate could be considered as successful and his/her candidature would be confirmed only on the successful transaction/receipt of the prescribed application fee from him/her.
    • Candidates shall ensure that the information entered by them in their respective online Application Form are correct.
    • Information provided by the candidates in their respective online Application Forms, like, name of candidate, contact/ address details, category, PwD status, educational qualification details, date of birth, choice of exam cities, etc. will be treated as final. Any request for change in such particulars after the closure of correction period will not be considered by NTA under any circumstances.

    JEE Main Exam Pattern 2024

    Exam Pattern JEE Main Guide Misostudy

    The examination will comprise of two papers, i.e. paper 1 (for B.E/B.Tech) and paper 2 (for B.Arch/B.Planing). The detailed JEE Main exam pattern for both papers is mentioned below:

    • Exam Mode: The entrance test will be organized in online CBT mode. However, the drawing test of Paper II (B.Arch) will be only held in offline mode.
    • Type o f Questions (Paper 1): The question paper will comprise of objective type questions.
    • Type of Questions (Paper 2): Mathematics and aptitude section will be of objective type questions and drawing test will be subjective.
    • Duration: The time duration to complete the paper will be of 3 hours. Extra time of 1 hour will be provided to candidates with 40% disability (PwD candidates).
    • Medium: JEE Main paper can be attempted by the students in various languages. These languages are – Hindi, English, Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Odia, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Punjabi, Urdu and Telugu.
    • Total Questions: There will be total 90 questions in Paper I (B.E/ B.Tech) and 82 questions in Paper IIA (B.Arch) and 105 questions in Paper IIB (B.Plan).
    • Marks: Paper I (B.E/ B.Tech) will be of 300 marks ; Paper IIA (B.Arch) and Paper IIB (B.Plan) will be of total 400 marks.
    • Marking Scheme: For every correct answer, 4 marks will be given. 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. No negative marking will be done in Section B.

    Pattern for Paper 1 (BE/B.Tech):

    *Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.

    Pattern for Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Plan):
