Why hydride gap occurs?

Hi student, Please find the answer to your query below. Metals of group 7,8 & 9 do not form hydrides. because the metals of these groups have very low affinity for hydrogen in their normal oxidation state.{and exicted state(other than normal oxidation state) of these metals are not possible with hydrogen, hydroden is not very reactive element} And this also known as hydride gap.
