What is NEET Medical Exam ?

NEET 2021

The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG will be conducted by the NTA from 2019 onwards. This Test was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018. NEET (UG) is applicable for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry

NEET Guide Misostudy

The responsibility of the NTA will limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and providing All India Rank to the Directorate General Health Services, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and for supplying the result to state/other Counselling Authorities However now all changes have been rolled back. NEET 2021: What's New?:

  • NTA has asked the Health Ministry about possibilities of conducting NEET exam in online mode instead of offline mode. If this happens, the chances are high that NEET exam will be conducted twice in a year. Earlier, NEET aspirants have also requested Minister of Education Nishank Pokhriyal to provide clarity during his live session where he answered candidates' queries regarding the national level entrance exam for 2021-2022 session. Though no official clarification on dates and examination mode has been provided by NTA.
  • A day after announcing that the NEET 2021 will be conducted based on the CBSE reduced syllabus, on January 19, 2021 the Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has clarified by saying “as the curriculum (for board exams) was cut by 30 percent due to COVID-19, therefore in the upcoming competitive NEET 2021 exam, the candidates will have more options to answer the questions.” Official clarity on NEET 2021 syllabus and exam pattern with respect to choice of optional questions is still awaited.
  • Like last year, NEET 2021 exam will also be conducted in 11 languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Urdu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujrati, Oriya, Assamese, Kannada and Telugu. Candidates can select their choice of language at the time of filling the NEET 2021 application form.
  • The application process will also be online

NEET 2021 is expected to be conducted by NTA in the last week of June 2021 (tentatively). The official notification on NEET 2021 schedule is expected to be released anytime soon. This will be followed by the release of NEET 2021 application forms to be filled online. The last date to submit the application form will be notified by NTA. NEET 2021 admit card is likely to be released in the last week of April and will be available for download online. After the examination is held, candidates will be able to download the provisional answer key of NEET 2021 in the last week of June. The result of NEET 2021 is expected to be released in the first week of July, along with the final answer key. Post this, the counselling for NEET 2021 will be held at both national and state levels.

NEET Eligibility Criteria & Registration

The eligibility criteria for NEET 2021 is mentioned below :

Nationality

  • Candidate should be an Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs) & Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply for NEET UG.
  • Candidates belong to J&K state will be eligible to apply for 15% All India Quota on the basis of self declaration.

Age Limit

  • The minimum age limit is 17 years as on December 31,2021 of the year of admission or candidates belonging to all the categories.
  • The rule specifying the maximum age limit of the candidate was challenged last year in the court of law. Thus, there is no upper age limit as of now and candidates older than 25 years of age applying for NEET 2021 will be provisionally admitted subject to the ruling of the High Court of Delhi.

Class 12 Marks/Qualification

  • Students must have passed class 12 board exam or an equivalent exam from a recognized board with at least five mandatory subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and an elective subject.
  • PercentageCriteria: Minimum 50% marks for general, 45% marks for PH and 40% marks for SC/ST candidates in the PCB group.

Year of Passing

  • Students who are appearing for board exams in the year 2021 are eligible to take NEET 2021.
  • Students who have appeared for class 12 exams in 2020 and appearing for an improvement exam in 2021 are eligible to apply for NEET 2021.
  • Candidates who have appeared for class 12 exams in 2018 and have taken improvement exam in 2020, can mention the year of the exam with a better score.

Adhaar Card Mandate:

  • Aadhar number is not mandatory to apply for NEET exam.
  • J&K, Assam & Meghalaya candidates can also apply by providing their passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Government ID number.
  • NRI candidates can apply by Adhaar Card number or Passport Number.
  • PIO, OCI & Foreign nationals candidates can apply by Passport Number.

NEET Registration Process

How to Apply for NEET 2021?

Medical aspirants can apply for NTA NEET 2021 only through online process.

  • NEET UG registration 2021 will be commenced from the last week of January 2021
  • Visit the official website, ntaneet.nic.in and register for NEET 2021
  • Before "Proceeding for Applying Online Form for NEET 2021 (UG)", check out the guidelines carefully.
  • Fill all the mandatory fields in the online form, including the personal and academic details
  • Upload the required documents such as scanned copies of photographs, signature, left-hand thumb impression and Class 10 Certificate
  • Take a printout of the confirmation page and preserve it for future reference

Application Fee of NEET 2021

The application fee had to be paid online Only.

  • Candidates can pay online fee using debit card/ credit card/ net banking and UPI or PAYTM.
  • Fee through any offline mode will not be accepted.
  • Application fee is non-refundable.

  • The NEET 2021 consists of one paper containing 180 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only.
  • The duration of NEET/AIPMT will be 03 hours
  • Mode of Exam is Pen and Paper.
  • The question paper will be asked in Hindi, English, Gujarati, Marathi, Oriya, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu and Kananda languages.
  • Marking scheme is 4 Marks for each correct answer and 1 negative mark for each incorrect answer and no marks for unmarked questions.
