Q.

As per your lecture about dinoflagellates you said that sexual reproduction is absent in them. But you also said that there will be zygotic meiosis in them since life cycle of dinoflagellates is haplontic. How can meiosis of zygote take place when there is no zygote in the first place since there is no sexual reproduction or fertilisation taking place in them?

Solution

See ninety percent of reproduction in dinoflagellates is of asexual type. However the literature reports that sexual reproduction is reported in some of them. Arbeena its nice to know that u are studying in so much of depth. But make sure u do not focus on minute things of the lecture, they are there to give a proper understanding of the lecture.Learn and memorise things which are more important. This will help you in getting the best rewards of your efforts.
