National Testing Agency Releases New Norms For JEE Main 2021

The NTA has released new rules for JEE Main 2021 exams. According to the new rules, candidates who appeared for JEE Main 2019 or JEE Main Advanced 2019 will not be allowed to appear for JEE exams 2021. The NTA had said that a candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years whether or not he/she has passed the qualifying examination (JEE Main).

From the commencing academic year, candidates will have an opportunity to take the exam four times a year, i.e., in February, March, April, and May. Applicants would be allowed to appear in all four attempts and the best of two attempts will be considered for the final merit list. The exam will be conducted in 13 different Indian languages.

Candidates can appear in the first engineering entrance test from February 23 to 26 for Bachelors in Engineering (BE) or Bachelor in Technology (BTech) of JEE Main 2021. Further, they will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance for JEE Advanced 2021.

Eligibility criterion for NTA JEE Main 2021

The minimum passing score to appear for JEE Main 2021 is that the candidates should have acquired 75% marks in the science stream.

 

Exception for Covid-19 patients

If a candidate had cleared JEE Main 2020 but could not appear in JEE Advanced 2020 due to Covid-19 infection, then he/she does not have to appear for JEE Main again. These seats will not be considered in addition to the total number of seats.
