NEET 2020: Study Tips and Tricks

As the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission into Medical and dental courses will be held on July 26, 2020, students have acquired some extra time for preparation.

All you need to know about NEET 2020
MBBS course in AIIMS and JIPMER will be through NEET, UG from 2020. Institute of National Importance like AIIMS, JIPMER, PGIMER will not conduct any UG entrance examination from the year 2020 onwards NEET will be the only entrance exam for MBBS and few other UG medical courses from next academy session

There will be 45 questions each in Physic and Chemistry and 90 questions are Biology (Botany and Zoology). The duration of the exam will be of 3 hours and will be conducted in offline mode multiple times in a year.

NEET 2020: Paper pattern and marking scheme

NEET 2020 will have an objective paper pattern, with multiple-choice questions distributed across 3 sections- Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The total number of questions in the exam is 180.

•    Physics section- 45 questions
•    Chemistry section- 45 questions
•    Biology section- 90 questions (45 in Botany and 45 in Zoology)

Marking scheme- +4 for each correct answer and 1 for each wrongly answered question. There will be no negative marking for an unattempted question.
Total marks- 180 x 4 = 720

Students should be thorough with their NCERT books of the subject while preparing for NEET 2020. Practice is the key to scoring good marks and one should focus on previous years’ questions papers and classroom notes.

Here are subject-wise tips one should keep in mind while preparing for NEET 2020.

NEET 2020: Physics section
The Physics section being the toughest of all the section requires extensive knowledge about each and every topic. This section comprises of 45 questions, which carries 180 marks, dominated by topics such as Electrostatics, Mechanics and Electronics. Avoid difficult topics and concentrate on topics on which you have a strong grasp. Revise all the general physics formulae on a regular basis.
The reference books you can use for preparing for the physics section are-
•    NCERT textbooks XI/XII
•    Class Notes.
•    MTG Objective NCERT at Your Finger Tips Physics for NEET,
•    Dc Pandey-NEET(for objective questions),
•    H.C Verma (objective-1 for theory and practicing conceptual objective problems).

NEET 2020: Chemistry section
The chemistry section in the NEET exam includes 45 questions that carry 180 marks, wherein the aspirants will get three sections- organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. The chemistry section is dominated by physical and organic chemistry, however last year there were a good number of questions from inorganic chemistry. Hence, inorganic chemistry must not be ignored.
In Organic chemistry, one should focus on GOC (General Organic Chemistry) and conversion reactions.
The reference books one should rely on while preparing for the chemistry section are-
•    NCERT Textbook XI/XII
•    Class Notes
•    MTG Objective NCERT at Your Finger Tips Chemistry for NEET,
•    VK Jaiswal (Inorganic objective)
•    MS Chauhan (Organic objective)
•    N Awasthi (Physical objective) or physical chemistry by O.P Tandon

NEET 2020: Biology section
This section includes 90 Questions that carry 360 marks and it goes without saying, that aspirants should pay more attention to this section. The important chapters one should focus on and do multiple revisions include Genetics, Human physiology and Plant physiology. There are always two figure based questions that come in the paper from the NCERT book so one should focus on NCERT figures too.

•    Class Notes
•    MTG Objective NCERT at Your Finger Tips biology for NEET
•    Biology Vol 1 and Vol 2 by Trueman
•    MTG previous years chapter wise Question in biology for NEET.

In order to secure a good rank, students should consult with faculty and practice sample papers on a regular basis. Time management is also one of the key factors for success and will come with practicing the mock papers daily.
